Kära familj och vänner,
This week was pretty good! We had some wonderful things happen here in Växjö.
To start, transfer news. I'm staying for at least another transfer, but I'm getting a new companion, Elder DeMordaunt. He is from the group after me, so I will be senior companion for the first time. I'm pretty excited, but it will be a hard transfer since Elder Hewitt and I went through the entire area book, and ran out of different things to do, so were left with tracting and contacting when we weren't teaching. If anyone has some great finding ideas, send them my way! I'm way excited though, even if we are just tracting and contacting 8 hours a day, it will be a wonderful transfer, and success will be evident.
Splits happened this week. I was with my district leader Elder Smith. (Quick note Dad, do you know someone who went to BYU, last name Smith, who created a program that predicted stocks with a group, then they sold it and made lots of money? If so, that's this Elder's dad. He lives in Sandy now if that helps identify which Smith it is, and would've gone to BYU a while ago. [We are unfamiliar with the specific identity of this Smith. -- The Editor]) It was pretty good, we did lots of knocking and talking, and met some cool people. One was a hockey player for the local hockey team the Lakers, but moved here from California. He knew lots about our church, but had heard a lot of false rumors as well. While on splits we were trying to help a new convert whose bike lock broke (the key stopped working while her bike was locked). We had a member who works with cars helping us, so he brought out some bolt clippers, a hack saw, and when neither of those did anything to it, he came back with a reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade in it. When that barely made a scratch we decided it would be best for her to take the lock to a metal or car shop where they either had a gas/plasma cutter or a grinder which would be able to remove the lock, if anything could. It was a solid lock, it even broke the bolt cutters when they finally got a grip on the metal.
Remember that awesome member missionary we have here who plays football with us and his friends, and brings friends to all the activities? His friend Janos has a baptismal date for the 25th of April now, and is committed to reading and praying, and has been doing it. He's really positive, and such a wonderful man. Another friend of his is meeting with us, and came to church on Sunday. She's pretty positive, other than the fact that she's in the mindset that all churches can be true, and doesn't speak too good of English or Swedish, so it's hard for her to understand. She's really wonderful though, and has lots of friends in our branch.
We had a lesson about Easter this week while home teaching, and I was asked the question, "what can you do to remember Christ more during this Easter time?" I responded with reading in the scriptures about Christ's life, and it really is incredible what I've found since Friday about it. 2 Nephi 26, "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world... the Lord God hath given a commandment that all men should have charity, which charity is love." Ether 12:33 "I remember that thou hast said that thou hast loved the world, even unto the laying down of thy life for the world, that thou mightest take it again to prepare a place for the children of men." These scriptures taught me something very important. Charity was manifest by Christ in everything that He did. He lived and showed charity through His life and actions. He died and showed Charity by His sacrifice, and continuing of acting in the spirit world. He rose again and showed charity by continuing to minister unto all on the earth, and preparing a place for them. All He did was to show us the way and the life. "Charity never faileth" and we are commanded to have charity. That is my challenge to each and every one of you this Easter. Study about Christ in the scriptures, and develop more charity, even through prayer as Moroni commands us, as well as through faithful searching and acting. I know that Christ is our Savior, and that He lives! The Easter Mormon Message really states it beautifully that no matter who you are, or were, Christ is there for you. He is reaching out, inviting you under His wings as a hen gathereth her chicks. The Church is true, and the Book of Mormon is the word of God. God's mercy is evident throughout the entire book, and the book as a whole states and confirms all truth necessary to inherit the kingdom of God, having eternal life in the presence of God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
Med vänlig hälsning,
