Vecka Trettioen [Week 31]

Hejsan!

This week was really fun.  I got a new companion, Elder DeMordaunt of Idaho.  He's really cool, and went to BYU for a little before coming out here.  We have a lot of fun together.  He's my first companion to be taller than me.  It's really funny to be companions with someone who knows all the same places as you, like where to golf, great restaurants, and different other random things in your home town.  We also are doing a lot of great work.

Our baptismal date guy is still doing great, and progressing at a good pace.  We had a great lesson this week, but he got reincarnation out of the plan of salvation.  Then his member friend caught on, and straightened everything out.  Now he understands, and I am so glad we have that member on lessons.  It would be really hard to get anywhere in this area without the strength of these members.

Tracting and contacting out here isn't too effective, unless we are being effective.  When we do all we can, invite and follow the Spirit, and show God that we are ready and working our best, then He blesses us with prepared people.  We still get the crazies just like anywhere else, but a lot of good has come from our work out here, and will continue to come in greater amounts.  This week has helped me see that a mission is really a learning process.  No one is at a further step than another person; we are all learning different things, and learning what God has for us.

I got to go on splits with the Delgados this week for a few hours.  It was fun.  We did personal, companionship, and language study together, then had to pick up my new companion.  It was really cool to see that the stuff we studied that morning helped us in our lessons that night, even though we weren't studying for it specifically, nor were we all three the companionship that taught that night.  Since I was getting a new companion, we had to pull some sort of prank on him, being the jokesters Elder Delgado and I are.  So we hid George (our rubber pig) under Elder Delgado's seat, and I would squish him with my foot so he'd make a sound, and Elder Delgado would say, "Excuse me."  We did that for a while, then when we were in the apartment Elder DeMordaunt asked about it.  I told him that Elder Delgado gets some bad gas sometimes, but he'd get used to it.  Then he got really confused in the car, so we pulled out George, and all had a great laugh about it.  Happy April Fools, courtesy of Elders Liddle and Delgado.  We also got Kinder Egg Maxi Surprises from the Delgados (pictures attached).  He (Elder Delgado) loves Kinder Eggs, and I'll send a picture home that shows how fanatical he can be with them.  He's super funny.

Conference was really great.  A lot of the focus seemed to be on families, and I was wondering how I could help more people listen to the amazing message we have.  Then Elder Perry talked about the family and the eternal perspective we have.  That really is the difference for many people.  They are searching for that, and don't know that the answer is there.  Others claim there is no proof, and when we tell them there is, they tell us that we are lying.  It's really quite interesting how they will claim something is untrue because there is no proof, then when the proof is put forth to be tested, they refuse to test it because they don't think it is true for them.  We had one guy going on with how all religions are right because they believe in God, and some are just right for some people, and others for other people.  We bore testimony to him of plain and simple truths of unity, quoting verses of the Bible, then invited him to read the Book of Mormon after telling him about it and sharing the Easter message.  He accepted the invitation, and was positive after our simple testimonies and the power of the scriptures and Spirit.

I love you all, don't have much more time, but the Church is true!  Good luck with everything this week!
