Vecka Sjuttio [Week 74]

Hejsan!

Weeks fly by when you're a missionary!  On Monday we barely had time to stop and think because we had a busy P-day and then two lessons that night.  They went really well, and I learned a lot from the one when we read Mosiah 2 together and talked about King Benjamin and how we need to serve others.  Tuesday wasn't quite as packed, but we had a really great lesson with one of our investigators at a member's home.  The Kääriä's are both in their 80's and she is getting cancer treatment and he is just getting old so they can't do a whole lot, but he always talks about how he wants to be a missionary, and work with the missionaries.  So we got a way for that to happen.  The lesson was really good, and our investigator really latched on to the Kääriä's.  I'm so grateful for them.

We have a couple of other fun things we did with them this week.  When we were talking to him earlier we found out he shovels his own snow.  So we went around 10:00 to go do it for him, and were disappointed to find it already shoveled.  So we asked him what time he usually gets up and shovels, and it is around 8:00.  So this next time it snowed, we were there bright and early to make sure he wouldn't do it.  We also were on a bus and he came on with two bags that were heavy and full of food.  I saw him and had a feeling that we needed to stay on this bus instead of getting off and going home.  It was a good thing too, because he thought he was on a different bus, so when we got to the end of the line (1 stop after where he lives) we helped take him and his bags to his house.  It was a good thing we stayed, otherwise who knows what he would've done.

One fun cultural experience this week was when we ate Pitepalt.  It was really good.  It's like a potato biscuit with pork and seasonings inside.  You eat it and it feels like you just threw a cannonball in your stomach, but they are soooo good!  I loved that.  2 of them feed a person.

Thursday was a crazy packed day again though.  We had four lessons back to back set up, which turned into 5 lessons back to back and one in the morning before district meeting at 10:30.  A guy called us at 5:00 and started talking about all these things he had done and how he wants to start over and repent of everything, and so we set up a time to meet with him in the morning.  He was in the army for a long time and really had a hard time with some of those experiences, but we were able to testify of God's love and omnipotence, and let him know how he can repent.  The lessons in the night were really good.  We taught two ladies back to back who are neighbors, and the lessons were super spiritual.  The one finally opened up to us and talked about her concerns, and the Spirit was incredibly powerful as we testified of Christ's Atonement and His divine role in our lives.  That day could not have been any better.

The key to being happy as a missionary is working hard in every aspect of the work.  Studying hard, working hard to find people, working hard to teach people, but most importantly, working hard to love people.  As we have charity we are more able to see things through God's eyes, who has that perfect joy that He promises to all who follow the example of His Son and become a saint through the Atonement of Christ.  A mission is a hard experience, but it's also a very happy experience.  I am so grateful for the privilege I have of serving here in Sweden as one of Christ's missionaries.

Mvh,

Äldste Liddle
