Vecka Femtiosex [Week 56]

Hejsan!

This week was quite the rollercoaster.  It was really wonderful though.  Monday we had a great Family Home Evening with the branch.  It was one investigator's birthday, so we did a little barbecue and ate cake with it.  It was fun.

Tuesday we had an incredible busy day.  We got taken out to lunch at a soup kitchen (it felt weird but the people said it's a free meal for the rich and poor) by a member, and met some fun people there.  Then we went and mowed a lady's lawn with a weed wacker and some long-handled shears.  It was a first for me, but worked out well.  It took a long time though.  She was very appreciative that we were willing to help, so she bought us some smörgåsar (sandwich basically) and ate with us.  It was really good.  Then went out to try to get some street proselyting in, but didn't get a whole lot of time to do that because we had a coordination meeting and dinner with our branch president that night.  We ate well that day.  Our theme for the day was miracles, and we talked a lot about how they really are possible even here, and what we need to do to make them happen.  We discussed a lot about worthiness, how we need to be exactly obeying all the commandments and rules that are set for us, and how we also need to be praying to be in the right place at the right time.

Wednesday we had another packed day with our district meeting in Uppsala.  We had everything timed perfectly, then district meeting ran long, so we had to leave a little early, then our train got delayed, and we ended up 15 minutes late to a member present lesson.  That went really well.  It was our first time meeting the guy, but I'm so glad we had Broder Wall with us.  He was a valuable asset in keeping things simple, explaining things that needed to be explained and not explaining things that should wait to be explained.  Every time we bring members on lessons they prove to be valuable assets.  We did some street proselyting then headed out to a member dinner.  It was a great day, and that guy that we taught has already read 40 pages of the Book of Mormon now, and was so excited for General Conference.

On Thursday we were just as packed with street proselyting, then a member meal, then apartment inspection (we passed!!!!) and a birthday party for an investigator.  I gave him a pair of pants I was getting rid of that looked really nice, I didn't want them anymore, and so I thought it was good since we were the same size.  He made us a crayfish soup that tasted really good.  I don't even like crayfish, but I loved the soup.  It was a fun little party, then we went home to do language study.

Friday things slowed down a lot.  We had 5 hours of tracting and street proselyting which turned out to be really brutal since only one person took any time to listen to us, and they ended up saying no to us.  It was rough, but on the way back we talked to a kid that was very curious.  We taught him a lot, and in the end he too said no, but we prepared him for the future.  He'll find out he really wants and needs this some day.  Saturday turned out about the same, except we played innebandy in the morning, and I was on fire, making lots of great shots and good passes.  Our branch president brought his less-active son along with a friend of that son, and it was fun to finally meet and talk to them.  They were really good.  We watched conference that night with an investigator of the Sisters' here at a member's house.  That family is absolutely fantastic.  They do so much for us and are always happy to help out in any way they can to get the work moving forward.  They also made us a German lunch on Sunday which was super great!

General Conference was absolutely wonderful.  The Spirit was so strong, and it was a spiritual feast.  Elder Renlund, one of the new apostles is actually Swedish!  I know his cousin.  He gave a really great talk, along with Elder Lawrence, Presidents Uchtdorf and Eyring and all of the others.  I learned a ton from the conference, and I love how great the word of God is.  It really is such a privilege to have living prophets who can speak the will of God.

Med vänliga Hälsningar,

Äldste Liddle
